Middle School Basketball Coach

Aubrey Daniel Jr

My professional basketball journey all began at Guildford Technical Community College in Greensboro, North Carolina. During that time, I averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds, earning me a full scholarship to Coker University. I was named the second team all-conference. I then made my way to Coker University, a division 2 school in Hartsville, South Carolina. In my junior year, I shot at 41% from the 3 point line and scored over 1000 points in my college career. Additionally, I played on the National team for my hometown the U.S Virgin Islands. During that time, I’ve traveled to several countries such as Chile, Colombia, Venezuela and Cuba.

I’ve been playing and studying the game of basketball for over 20 years. During those years, I’ve gained many different perspectives and experiences. In 2019, I began my basketball training and coaching career with TNT Elite Hoops, adding over 5 years of experience. Because of these experiences, my love for the game grew to great heights. It shows when I’m both training and coaching. I do them with extreme passion. My hopes is that every child I come in contact with will excel, grow and succeed in this sport.

I was blessed to have the opportunity to coach middle school this year. We won some tough games, and we’ve lost some tough games as well. However, in my opinion, we had a successful year. Every child that started and are still with us definitely got better.

We created a routine in which we did skill work and practiced in the morning, and running, push ups, sit ups, abs, squats, calf raises and a whole lot of mobility exercises in the afternoon. We then got shots up and finished with ball handling thereafter. We definitely got a tremendous amount of reps in. I strongly believe that with consistent repetition, dedication and hard work, these drills and exercises will become second nature. It’s not a secret that you get out what you put in.

One life quote I live by is from John Wooden. He stated that “A good coach can change a game, but a great coach can change a life.” I will continue to change lives.
